5 Months
A typical day in the life...(at five months)
5:00 am - Daddy jolts out of bed, woken by the loudest alarm in the world. He goes into Landon's room and reswaddles him as he has gotten both arms out of his special swaddle blanket and will wake up very soon if not swaddled again.
6:20 am - Daddy leaves for work, hopefully the baby is still asleep. Mommy tries to sleep through Daddy getting ready for work but she usually can't do it, even with earplugs.
7:30-8:00 am - Landon wakes up, usually screaming but as soon as he sees Mommy he has a nice smile for her. Mommy says "Good Morning Punkin'! Did you have good baby dreams?" Which usually receives a squeal and a smile as response. She then removes his swaddle blanket and covers him with a light blanket that he loves to grab and play with and turns on his mobile. She then goes over to the window and opens the blinds and gives Landon a quick weather report (usually always mostly cloudy!) and then she goes into the kitchen and warms his bottle. Landon then gets a clean diaper, clothes and gets to eat breakfast.
8:00-10:00 am approximately - After breakfast Mommy usually straps Landon in his papasan chair and lets Colby out of his crate. Colby is very excited and gives Mommy a good morning hug and runs into the living room and tries to do the same with Landon. Colby usually goes back into the bedroom and inspects the nightstand and steals whatever Mommy has neglected to put back in the drawer (almost always her earplug container or a tissue or water bottle cap). Mommy then usually quickly tries to start a load of laundry or some other chore before Landon has had enough of his papasan chair (usually 10-15 minutes).
Then the following activities:
Play in the Exersaucer (the mini ringing cellphone is his favorite). Mommy sits on the floor next to him and throws the mini tennis ball for Colby. We then move to tummy time on the floor and practice rolling over and more ball with Colby. Then we move to laying under his Tiny Love gym and practice reaching for his toys. Mommy tries to watch a little of Martha or Live with Regis and Kelly but she usually misses most of it. Then Landon starts to get fussy so we practice sitting on the floor and playing ball with Colby. This usually holds off "the cranks" for a little while because Colby is sooo entertaining and usually illicits some laughing and squeals. He also puts the mini tennis ball in Landon's lap (I guess he's trying to train him early). By the time two hours have passed Landon has had enough of everything! Nothing will keep away "the cranks" except a nap! So Mommy usually holds him and bounces and walks around until his whining and crying turns to droopy eyes. Colby is of course...pouting, because we've stopped playing. He then gets laid down for a nap which is usually about an hour. While napping, Mommy tries to get something done, but she usually checks email and looks at friends' blogs.
11:00-11:30 am - Landon wakes up and is ready for second breakfast!
11:30 - 2:00 - Usually the same sequence of activities are repeated along with some time "talking" to Mommy and playing patty cake, itsy bitsy spider, looking at books, raspberry blowing, and singing ABC's and any other song that Mommy can try to remember. Colby of course is trying to get us to play ball. If we are too busy there is a lot of pouting and sighing while he thinks the only thing left to do is take a nap. Usually every other day Landon gets a bath before lunch, which he loves! Lunch time is a challenge because he has now been awake for two and a half hours and is very tired and doesn't want to finish his bottle, but Mommy usually perserveres.
2:30 - 5:00 pm - Landon gets swaddled and takes a nap. Mommy crosses her fingers that he will sleep right through and that Colby will not bark at anyone outside and wake him up. More than likely he wakes up once or twice during his nap and Mommy has to go in and give him his pacifier until he falls back to sleep. She then tries to remember all her Dog Whisperer techniques and resists the urge to kick or strangle the dog! Mommy then gets to eat some lunch and hopefully watch something on TiVo, before guilt sets in and she works on more household chores.
4:45 pm - Daddy gets home! Yay! Hugs and kisses all around!
5:00 - 5:30 pm - Landon wakes up from his nap and Daddy gives him a warm greeting and feeds him dinner. We also follow the same type of routine of activities in the evening adding in dinner and sometimes a quick shopping trip or dog walking.
8:30 pm - Landon gets his last bottle of the day and Daddy puts him to sleep. Mommy and Daddy sigh and discuss how much we love him and how much work he is! This is also usually when Mommy finally gets her shower!
